Follow the steps below to download and install Draftout. Version requirements, allowed mods, and troubleshooting are further down. Stuck? Ask for help in the Discord server.
Create a 26.1.1 instance
We recommend using Prism Launcher - the steps below are written for it. Other launchers such as MultiMC also work, but steps vary. Clients like Lunar Client, Feather, and cracked launchers are not supported.
- Hit Add Instance, select version 26.1.1.
- Select Fabric under Mod Loader, select any version 0.18.6+, and hit OK.
Download the Draftout mod
Built-in Prism Launcher mod downloader (recommended)
- Edit instance → Mods → Download Mods.
- Search for Draftout → tick the checkbox → Review and confirm → OK.
orDownload the .jar from Modrinth
- On the Modrinth page, hit Download in the top right, then Download in the modal.
- In your launcher, find a Folder option and move the
.jarintomods/. The full path should look like<instance>/minecraft/mods/<draftout_version>.jar.
Updates are handled through an in-game prompt, so you only need to download the mod manually once.
Configure Java settings
Java version
Minecraft 26.1.1 requires Java 25+.
Instance-specific (recommended)
- Edit instance → Settings → Java.
- Tick Java Installation → Open Java Downloader, and select any version labelled major version Java 25.
- Hit Detect, then select any entry with a 25 prefix.
orLet Prism Launcher auto-detect and download
- Open Prism Launcher Settings (global) → Java, then tick Auto-detect Java version and Auto-download Mojang Java.
JVM settings
- Edit instance → Settings → Java.
- Tick Memory and ensure Maximum Memory Usage is set to at least 3GB (3072 MiB).
- Tick Java Arguments, then paste this to prevent the random startup / mid-game crashes that some players hit:
-XX:CompileCommand=exclude,io/netty/util/internal/ReferenceCountUpdater,retryRelease0
Minecraft Version
Draftout is currently on Minecraft version 26.1.1. We plan to update Draftout to the latest version regularly so new mechanics, strats, and metas can evolve.
Allowed Mods
Currently, we only allow SRC legal mods (this might change in the future for things like performance/accessibility mods). Downloads for each mod can be found on the MCSR mods site (select version 26.1.1). For broader gameplay, tools, and conduct rules, see the Draftout rules.

Disallowed Tools
A notable exception to SRC legal tools is Ninjabrain Bot which is NOT allowed. Also, external tools that read game/board state are not allowed.

Troubleshooting
- Re-check that the instance is running Java 25+ and that the recommended JVM launch argument is set (see step 3).
- Make sure the recommended JVM launch argument from step 3 is added to your instance settings.
- Ask for help in #public-help on the Discord server - include your log if the game crashed.
